Business Success – what is the X-factor?

For example, what is it that separates a self-made Billionaire like Branson from a owner of a SME type business that turns over £100K per year and has one employee….?

Now I am sure that there are many elements that could be debated here. I guess that vision and desire have got to be two of them. The Entrepreneur needs to have a desire to build an empire that is going to generate billions of pounds but also have that vision to work towards.

I do believe that a lot of entrepreneurs would like to have business success that would provide them with a billion pound nett worth as so often with our business coaching, we ask what people want to achieve and more often than not they want more business, more revenue, more sales and ultimately, more profit.

I think a lot of people believe that the correct strategy will allow you to build a £ billion empire but I would argue that we can point to any business  strategy or field of business and look at the titans of that business who would be billionaires…. So I am willing to believe that pretty much any strategy will work, or the entrepreneur will MAKE it work – through application and tweaking. 

So if its not industry and its not just desire and vision …. What else could it be that would build these billionaires and their business success? 

I say that business success  is made up of a combination including :

1) A definite vision and goal to work towards

2) A HUGE capacity for continuously learn and grow

3) An unwavering passion for what you do

4) Unlimited motivation

These , I am sure we can agree are all “Must have’s” in a “Billionaire to Be” ‘s make up….

But in my opinion, having those 4 things doesn’t guarantee you success to the highest degree. 

There is something else that the absolute elite in business have and it’s something that is really not easily taught. It’s something that is much deeper than something you can learn from a text book.

In my opinion, it’s the ability to inspire others.

THAT’S the key that can take a very successful entrepreneur to become one of the most elite in business – the ability to inspire others. That plays a huge role in true and elite business success. 

Lets face it, we all have 24 hours in a day and in all honestly, most of us have very strong skill sets in  3 or maybe 4 different areas maximum. That being said, we need to be able to surround ourselves with people who can compliment our skill sets with their particular skills. As we all know, it takes a large number of people with different skill sets to run a company efficiently and create that business success.

 I honestly believe that if you want to have a billionaire empire, you have to be able to inspire the people who work  with you. The people who depend on you. They HAVE to share your vision is order to work feverishly towards it.  

 They also need to feel valued and understood and a part of the greater effort. They have to feel that their position is  making a meaningful contribution to the greater cause. If you get this right, then you will go a long way to building  a very powerful empire moving forward. 

 This was perfectly illustrated when one of the business clients that I coach said to me that she wants to build  companies that act as catalysts to help employee’s to develop themselves on both a personal and professional level – more so than what they would if they didn’t work for her company.

I thought that insight was pretty cool.

A company model where everyone is aware of what they want to achieve and are supported in their quest for it…A vision that not only benefits the company but also adds value to the life of the employee be that further professional development or just to have an added element of security in what they are doing…

The bottom line is folks, there is such a limitation on what we can achieve in a day with just our own individual skill-sets. We need to know how to manage and inspire those around us to buy into and be passionate about our vision. If they buy into your vision as largely as what you do, you will be very, VERY successful and enjoy true business success.
