“Champions aren’t made in the contest…
….they are only recognised there….!”
This was the bellow from a sports coach that I was fortunate enough to have been coached by, back in the day. He was totally adamant that any “Glory Boy” attitudes were for for Pop Stars and Pretty boys…. none of which were welcome in his team.
Now growing up and the experiences that I had wasn’t always a bed of roses but I was blessed to have some good influences around me that allowed me to grow up with a “hard-work ethic” and one of “no blame”. It was always our problem and we could sort it out or it would sort us out.
This is a frame of mind that I am very grateful that I have as when you believe this, you truly believe that you have a strong influence over your destiny and your fate is largely in your hands.
That comment recently revisted me again when I was having a bit of a weak moment. B1tching and moaning because I had been working so hard on something and it was not producing the results I was after – right now.
I thought of that old coach and his attitude. Then I thought about so many of my hero’s and, after reading their stories, how many times they got knocked back before they hit their home runs. How much work they had to do in practise. How much training they had to do when nobody was watching … when they were the last ones in the gym – going just one more round. Only them and the timer.
Or pushing one more set of reps – to just beat their own personal best – any only THEY were keeping count. Nobody else….
It only mattered to them.
Then I look at the people who are around me – the people who are on the same journey as you and I are. People who are going to be tomorrow’s hero’s, so many of these people are our MOBIvation clients and as such, we are been able to work with them, support them, encourage them and share their ups and downs. We can see these people’s potential and the future that they have.
You and I both know that these people are 100% destined for greatness and right now they are working at things WAY outside their comfort zones and getting knock backs but STILL, they keep moving forward.
They are doing the hard training outside of the lime-light. Where there is nobody to give them a high-five and a cheque for 5 figures after they have spoken for an hour.
These are tomorrow’s champions that will be recognised in the lime-light tomorrow … but only because they are doing the hard-graft today.
A champion is NEVER built in the limelight. They are only recognised there…. It’s all the work that goes on away from the bright lights that makes a champion.
Here’s to your Health, Wealth and Happiness.
