Your Tipping Point

The online dictionary describes the term “Tipping Point” as:

“The crisis stage in a process when a significant change takes place.”

Malcolm Gladwell, a man whom I think is one of the greatest modern day philosophers on the planet also wrote a phenomenal book called “The Tipping Point” which talks about specific events that he has documented that have creates massive social change on an unprecedented scale, all seemingly ignited by one small incident or specific person.Gladwell Your Tipping Point

This term and idea of a tipping point has really been the reason why I have not posted on this blog  in a few weeks and if you are building a business or looking to make some kind of change – a lasting change – you will be effected by this.

To bring this into context, you may recall that I launched MOBIvation back in April. The service at the time was limited to MOBIvation text messages to help aspiring entrepreneurs, business owners, investors and basically anyone who wanted to make a lasting change in their lives, get to where they want to go in as quick a time as possible.

That was back in April.

So starting in April, I was beavering away (funny imagine, isn’t it?) writing blogs, posting on international blogging sites, talking to people about MOBIvation, getting testimonials from clients and basically just trying to devise more and more ways of getting new clients on board and building the brand and building the business. I was working sometimes 18 hour days to get new things in place, brain storming, researching and coming up short again and again and again.

Please don’t get me wrong, MOBIvation was serving clients and making money but no where near the scale that I had wanted it to do.

Sometimes when you work so hard for something and you get no short term returns, it can really bite into your self confidence and your motivation (ironic, I know) . If you have started a business that you have put your heart and soul into, you will know that there are times when you doubt your ideas. You doubt your dreams. You start thinking about going back to what it was that you left in order to follow your dream… all of this happened to me….

Was I ready to throw in the towel?

Yes. throw in the towel 300x225 Your Tipping Point

I had times where I thought, “How crazy are you that you believe you can bring not only a new product but a completely new way of thinking into a brand new market?” Taking a new product into an existing market is tough enough, as is taking an existing product into a new market…. but to tackle them both at the same time…? That’s got to be madness, surely?

I started to envy my friends who had taken an in-demand product or service into an established market where there is already a demand. “That’s easy” I thought. You just have to show the consumer who is already using the product, why your product or service is better!

Crazy thoughts were running through my head…. but I figured that I had come this far and it was time to “man up” and to adopt that attitude of “I will make this a success…. or I will die trying”

So you get back to the grind stone. Keep focused on the outcome and “get after it”.

More and more days, weeks and months passed with just trickles of new members joining. Still, head down…. keep moving PHorward. More blood, sweat and tear…. (well, no blood – except for one paper cut but you know what I mean! icon wink Your Tipping Point )

Then something happened….

It was one thought that literally changed my entire outlook on our approach and how we were doing things. I decided to take a slightly different approach.

That 3% shift in thinking and approach resulted in a bulk deal one week later. This bulk deal increased my client base by circa 20%. Let me put this in context, that’s a 20% increase after ONE conversation that lasted maybe an hour!

I was SO excited after I had got the verbal agreement on this deal that I decided to do what I always do when I have a BIG break-through. I went back to where it all began. I went back to the parts of London that I used to work in, 13 years ago. When I was earning £3.76 – £5.50 per hour. I went back to some of the clubs and old haunts that I used to work at and just went back mentally to those times…. when things really weren’t very good.

Not sure why I do that really. Maybe it’s a way of keeping my feet on the ground. Maybe it’s a way of showing my gratitude to the person that got me through those times… the person I used to be.. .and think of the people that I had around me in those days. Good people who guided me.

The strangest thing was, I went into one of the haunts in Covent Garden that I used to inhabit from time to time and, totally by co-incidence, ran into someone who has potentially changed my life forever. Someone who has bought into MOBIvation as much as I and my clients have.

Someone who can get more people involved in MOBIvation in one week than I possibly could do in a year.

That was MOBIvation’s tipping point

From that evening on, MOBIvation is not reserved just to the text messages but over the last few months we have now developed, launched and have clients for our life coaching services, business coaching services and last but certainly not least, brought out a event speaking service too. All of which are heavily in demand and receiving rave reviews.

There are a whole host of other things that I have been blessed with over the last 3 months but I am not going to bore you with them… you have probably seen many of them on my Facebook profile but what I am getting at here is that the only place where “success” comes before “work” and “total faith” is in the dictionary. Easy English Dictionary 230x300 Your Tipping Point

The truth of the matter is though, it’s not just hard work that is needed. It’s an undying faith in what you have or what you are working on is going to be a success. It comes down to sometimes being too stupid to know when you are beaten and to just keep on, keeping on!

If you do that and you put enough hard work in the right places, somewhere along the line you will hit your tipping point ….. and you will wonder about what all the fuss was about!! icon wink Your Tipping Point

To your Health, Wealth and Happiness.

PH

P.S. I have got to say a HUGE “THANK YOU” to all of you who helped me get to this level. We are certainly not where we will end up, but we are all on this journey together! icon wink Your Tipping Point Thank YOU! icon smile Your Tipping Point

Awesome bro, I remember the day we met in the walkies over a heated rugby match where we got chatting about your efforts in helping people through inspiring texts out of your own pocket with massive phone bills every month and not a mention of it! It was always and will always be about the reward of helping others is the clear message I got.

All the power to you bro, great to see!

PS. Its about time for another rugby meet

You are a LEGEND Paul! What else should I say!
Most people give up just before they get to where they want to get – just few inches …, and only a few are willing to take the paint to get through this last (usually most difficult) few inches!
You are an extraordinary Man !!
    Keep going PHorward
